Employee profile – Jason Ball, Commercial Manager

22 February 2023

What led you to where you are today?

I moved over with my immediate family in my late teens from South Africa, back in 2006. I studied for my A-Levels alongside doing GCSE’s when I first arrived then transitioned to a 5-year part time BSc Hons degree course in Quantity Surveying, working in the construction industry alongside my studies, where I have now been for the past 15 years since graduation. I have always been within the surveying role and have been working for various construction companies specialising in large warehouses/offices and fit outs.

What attracted you to DDK?

I saw an opportunity to join a professional organisation at an early stage and be involved in helping it to grow. Having mainly been involved in large warehouse developments I was also keen to branch out into a more specialist construction and production lines within the food manufacturing sector.

How have you found working with DDK?

I really enjoy the freedom I have, to be able to shape the commercial side of the business and the support and empowerment that I receive from the directors. For my personal development, the next career step would be a Commercial Director role and I am working towards that with the greater handle that I have across the whole business and the ability to make high level decisions together with the directors.

Fun fact

I’m a very good swimmer and previously swam in the South African nationals, a long time ago now. When I’m not working, I love to go on car and bike track days and make a point of doing a trip to the Nürburgring once a year.
